My knees are still pretty tight so some of the floor poses were still hard. I had to dial down the Kombucha to 4 oz a day. It’s really acidic and was giving me really bad heartburn. The detox is going strong other then that the benefits are still being dialed in. The gingerade is really good though so I will stick it out for at least a week or too.

Last night my Wife and I went back to doing Bikram Yoga.. Man I forgot how hard and hot it is! We went to the Bikram Yoga Andersonville which has an amazing deal for beginners $30 for 30 days. The first few classes if you can just stay in the room the whole time you are doing a good job. It’s 105 +degrees and you sweat like you never have before. It’s intense and you can burn over 1000 calories so its a very good exercise.

Check out my Yelp Review and others review Bikram Yoga Andersonville

I also started a minor detox regiment by drinking the craziest tea I have ever had in my life! Raw Kombucha Tea which my Brother-in-law found at whole foods. I guess a lot of MMA fighters drink this for the health benefits. It smells like moldy bread left out for five years. Which is somewhat related to what this tea is. It’s a mixture of tea, yeast, a culture of fungus, sugar and then it’s fermented. To me it tastes like fizzy bread water. With the fermentation the tea is carbonated and makes it really hard to chug so you are pretty much forced to do large gulps instead of ending the journey in one large swig.

According to legend, people in Eastern Europe and Asia have been brewing it in their homes for thousands of years as a health tonic. Kombucha culture looks like a hideous, gelatinous pancake, but placed in a vessel of sweetened tea and left to ferment for a week or so, it converts humble tea into a crisp drink with a pale amber hue and pinpoint bubbles. And because the fermentation converts most of the sugar into organic acids, the resulting drink has as few as two grams of sugar per cup. Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07158/791991-34.stm#ixzz0cd5h0P6m

The tea is really acidic and has given be really bad heartburn. Beginners shouldn’t drink more then 4oz and most people shouldn’t go over 16 oz in a day. I am going to go a week of 8 oz servings and see what happens. The brewer of the Kombucha that I am drinking claims it aided his Mom in fighting a aggresive case of cancer. People have been drinking this still for thousands of years so it must do some kind of good. We will see and I will be pinching my nose and gulping it down with regular updates here!

http://matadorchange.com/what-you-can-do-to-help-haiti/

Matador is mobilizing its community of passionate travelers to help earthquake victims in Haiti.

Earlier today, an earthquake registering 7.0 on the Richter scale struck the capital of Haiti, with a series of aftershocks as strong as 5.5 rattling Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas. As of this writing [9:45 PM EST], the full scope of damage has not been determined; however, the collapse of a hospital and extensive structural devastation suggests that the death toll may be high.

We’ve already been contacted by Matador readers and community members who want to know how they can help.

At present, we are working to coordinate a trip to Haiti via the Dominican Republic for Matador readers and members who want to contribute as volunteers in the post-earthquake recovery. It’s a huge effort and will depend to a large extent on the goodwill and quick response time of travelers and travel industry leaders.

Logistics include arranging transportation and lodging, as well as determining the best organization to partner with in order to contribute our time and skills. These details are being worked on right now.

Specifically, Matador is encouraging JetBlue to provide transportation to Hispaniola (the island shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic) via a Twitter campaign. Our request is being taken to JetBlue’s corporate relations department for their consideration.

In the meantime, we need your help. Here’s what you can do:

1. Spread the word via Twitter

Though JetBlue’s resident Twitter peep has agreed to carry our request to corporate relations, we want to show JetBlue we have a critical mass of people willing and ready to volunteer. If we can fill a plane, will JetBlue fly us there? It doesn’t hurt to ask, right?

Retweet this message:

@JetBlue: If @MatadorNetwork could fill a plane with volunteers, would you fly them to Santo Domingo to help #quake vics in #Haiti?

2. Help us fill a plane!

Could you travel to Haiti to help quake victims? Email me at julie@matadornetwork.com to let me know you’d like to be kept up to date about our volunteer project efforts.

And ask your contacts if they’re interested by retweeting this message:

Are you interested in joining @MatadorNetwork to help #quake victims in #Haiti? DM us!

Post a status message on Facebook:

Are you interested in joining MatadorNetwork.com to help earthquake victims in Haiti? Email Julie @julie@matadornetwork.com for more information.

3. Share your contacts and on-the-ground knowledge of the region.

We’ll need lots of help to pull this trip off. If you can help by sharing contacts in Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince who could help with local transportation, food, and lodging, please direct them to Julie@matadornetwork.com. If you have contacts in the US who could provide much-needed relief supplies, share the same email with them.

4. Spread the word.

If you have a blog or write for a news outlet, spread the word about the way we’re using social media to coordinate this trip. Queries can be directed to me: Julie@matadornetwork.com.

Avatar may be one of the biggest grossing movies of all time, but it’s got a lot of fans feeling super blue (pun wholly intended).
CNN just came out with an extremely detailed report on the intense depression that Avatar is causing among a certain segment of fans, fans who psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser describes as “lonely to begin with. They’re seeing Avatar, they’re lonely people, a lot of them don’t have a lot going on in their lives right now… The movie opened up a portal for them to express their depression.”
