Last night my Wife and I went back to doing Bikram Yoga.. Man I forgot how hard and hot it is! We went to the Bikram Yoga Andersonville which has an amazing deal for beginners $30 for 30 days. The first few classes if you can just stay in the room the whole time you are doing a good job. It’s 105 +degrees and you sweat like you never have before. It’s intense and you can burn over 1000 calories so its a very good exercise.

I also started a minor detox regiment by drinking the craziest tea I have ever had in my life! Raw Kombucha Tea which my Brother-in-law found at whole foods. I guess a lot of MMA fighters drink this for the health benefits. It smells like moldy bread left out for five years. Which is somewhat related to what this tea is. It’s a mixture of tea, yeast, a culture of fungus, sugar and then it’s fermented. To me it tastes like fizzy bread water. With the fermentation the tea is carbonated and makes it really hard to chug so you are pretty much forced to do large gulps instead of ending the journey in one large swig.
According to legend, people in Eastern Europe and Asia have been brewing it in their homes for thousands of years as a health tonic. Kombucha culture looks like a hideous, gelatinous pancake, but placed in a vessel of sweetened tea and left to ferment for a week or so, it converts humble tea into a crisp drink with a pale amber hue and pinpoint bubbles. And because the fermentation converts most of the sugar into organic acids, the resulting drink has as few as two grams of sugar per cup. The tea is really acidic and has given be really bad heartburn. Beginners shouldn’t drink more then 4oz and most people shouldn’t go over 16 oz in a day. I am going to go a week of 8 oz servings and see what happens. The brewer of the Kombucha that I am drinking claims it aided his Mom in fighting a aggresive case of cancer. People have been drinking this still for thousands of years so it must do some kind of good. We will see and I will be pinching my nose and gulping it down with regular updates here!
